Fire Emblem - General Introduction

I am sure many of you have played one or more of the Fire Emblem series. Even if you haven't played any before, I am sure you have heard of it or else you will not be here.

Fire Emblem is one of the most popular games created by Nintendo in Japan. It has nine games, from the time since Nintendo developed the Intellegent Systems till now. Fire Emblem is a roleplaying strategy game where you move characters on a grid, suitable for all ages, easy to play and enhances tactics thinking. It leads you into a world full of mysteries and wonderful events, a world where humans and dragons co-exist, a world where a hero is needed to fight for peace.

Fire Emblem: Dragon of Darkness and Sword of Light (1990)
This is the first ever created Fire Emblem game. The first lord of the series, Marth walked his journey outside his kingdom together with his teacher and some of his loyal friends.

Fire Emblem Gaiden (1991)
A story related to the first Fire Embelm series which is also played on NES. Some of the characters from the first series also appear in this game.

Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem (1993)
A sequel to the first series, also the army led by Marth with most of the old characters. Although this is a different story with the same characters, it is quite popular at that time.

Fire Emblem: Genealogy of Holy War (1996)
This game is composed of two parts and more than a hundred soundtracks available in the game. It features the first main character, Siglud, and his son, Celice.

Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 (2000)
This series can be considered as a partial continuation of the last series, and also the last Fire Emblem game before the Gameboy Advance versions are out. It is one of the most difficult Fire Emblem games.

Fire Emblem: The Sealed Sword (2002)
First GBA game which became very popular in Japan since it is out. A new journey different from the previous series started by Roy and his army against the evil forces, in place of his sick father.

Fire Emblem: The Blazing Sword (2003)
The first Fire Emblem game to be releasd in the US. It is the story of Roy's father, Eliwod and his teammates, so a prequel to the previous series. This game also contains two parts, and three lords.

Fire Emblem: The Bright Stone of the Holy Demon (own translation) (2004)
The lastest GBA Fire Emblem Series at present, with no connection to any past series. Two new lords lead a totally different story in the game. The special feature in the game is that you can choose to follow the male or the female lord.

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (2005)
The lastest Fire Emblem game played on a gamecube. Having similar action commands and play style, this 3D game brings more entertainment to the player by its awesome graphics and attack designs.
